The Vietnam Physics Society is a socio-professional organization of the Vietnamese intellectuals acting in physical science and technology, education and training, and popularization.
The Vietnam Physics Society (VPS) is organized and operates under the principles of voluntarism, autonomy, democracy, equality, nonprofits and execution the constitution, laws of the State and the Charter of VPS.

International Cooperation
VPS maintains cooperative relations with international and asia-pacific physical societies, international cooperation agencies, international non-governmental organizations concerning with the development of the fields of physics in Viet Nam.

As VPS enters into its 7th term (2013-2018), VPS committed itself to the coordinated efforts for the socio-professional development and international integration of Vietnam, especially in terms of encouraging Vietnamese scientists and engineers, both at home and overseas, to conduct scientific research and innovation, academic exchange, provision of science-based consultancies and recommendations, dissemination of science and technology and international cooperation.

In accordance with the Charter of VPS that has been endorsed by the 7th Congress, VPS is mandated to the Aims and Functions as follows:
Aims of VPS:
The Vietnam Physics Society (VS) is a socio-professional organization gathering and uniting Vietnamese intellectuals in the fields of physical science and technology, education and training as well as propagation, mobilizing its members to participate effectively in activities contributing to national construction and development, representing and protecting the legal rights and interests of its members.
Functions of VPS:
  • Gathering and uniting Vietnamese intellectuals in the fields of physical science, technology, education and training as well as propagation, mobilizing its members to participate effectively in activities contributing to national construction and socio-economic development and protecting the environment. Executing the laws and policies of the State.
  • Organizing the activities of schools, workshops, conferences for communicating, popularizing, disseminating and improving scientific and technological knowledge, in compliance with stipulations by laws and policies of the State.
  • Strengthening cooperation with international counterparts in compliance with stipulations by the lawfor encouraging and developing physical science, technology, an education and training in Vietnam.
  • Participation in conducting consultancy, judgment, and verification of the problems related to physical science and technology, education and trainingas required by state institutions, communicating and mobilizing the general public to participate in technology transfer and apply technological advances in production and daily life in compliance with stipulations by the law.

Organizational structure
 
The VPS Organization and VPS Rules approved by the Vietnamese Ministry of Interior Affaires.
In the seventh term (2013-2018),The VPS Organization and VPS Rules approved by the Vietnamese Ministry of Interior Affaires on 31 March 2014  by Decision 336/QĐ-BNV.
The highest decision-making body of VPS is the National Congress that meets every five years to discuss and endorse the resolutions about the 5 years development plan of VPS, to endorse the Charter and to elect the Central Committee.
The Central Committee meets twice per year to provide guidance, advices and directions for the implementation of the 5 year resolution. The Central Committee is responsible for the entire operation of VPS in its elected term.
The Central Committee appoints the President, the Vice Presidents, the Secretary General, the Head of Inspection Department and other members.
To help implementing the functions of VPS, a number of affiliated institutions have been established
